Game Rules & Descriptions

Kin-Ball is a fast-paced, inclusive team sport where three teams compete on the court at the same time. The game focuses on co-operation, quick thinking, and fair play, making it ideal for players of all skill levels.

Basic Game Setup:

• 3 teams on court, each with 4 players

• Teams wear different coloured bibs or shirts (commonly pink, grey, and black)

• One ball is used (1.22m diameter for official games)

Objective:

The serving team hits the ball into play and calls out one of the other teams’ colours. The named team must catch the ball before it touches the ground. If they succeed, they serve next. If they fail, the other two teams each score a point.

Key Rules:

• Players must always serve the ball while using all three team members to support it

• The ball must be hit at least 1.8 metres (6 feet) in distance

• The same team cannot be targeted with consecutive serves

• Contact is minimal, and players must not obstruct or interfere with others’ movement

Scoring:

• If the called team fails to catch the ball, the other two teams earn a point

• If the serving team makes a fault (e.g., incorrect serve or call), both non-serving teams earn a point

• The game is typically played to a set time or point limit
